Frizz is always caused by a lack of moisture in your hair, sometimes naturally and other time it’s because you are mistreating your hair!
I have been waiting for so long to reach this phase of my life! Seriously, I wouldn’t imagine that one day I’ll be writing to share my hair recovery experience. I have suffered a lot with my hair since the teenage and I used to have horrible, frizzy, dry hair.
So, I used to choose the easier way to treat it which is chemicals- I used Permanent Hair straightening products and as it’s called permanent ‘yes’ it makes permanent damages for your hair even if it was a good product, it makes the hair even drier and causes severe hair fall. I don’t want to surprise you but the last time I did it I lost a whole patch of my hair.
And then I shifted to Keratin and Protein treatments, as I thought they would be better, as at first, it gives the hair amazing shiny look and frizz-free, but after a couple of months the shine fades away and my hair returned more damaged and it makes a dandruff layer that causes hair loss.
Two years ago, I have stopped all of this hassle, and I established a new hair care routine that I now have to be more careful with the way I treat my hair.
Today, I am sharing with you some steps that I am following to tame my frizzy hair. I believe there will be no need for those chemicals after following this:
1-FIRST: Your hair is what you eat! You should maintain the balanced diet that includes plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Omega-3 is a natural hair hydration. Also, foods rich in zinc and iron help hair follicles to grow, and of course you have to drink plenty of water, it provides energy to the cells that control hair growth and makes the hair healthier.
2-SECOND: You should also cut off the tips of your hair regularly every two months this boosts hair growth and improves the health of your hair and reduces the hair breakage, I believe you won’t be happy with a taller damaged hair!
3-THIRD: To restore the health of your hair, every month at least you should make a natural mask for your hair, this nourish your hair and hydrate it, keeping hair hydrated helps prevent the hair opening up and letting in moisture. Some of my favorite homemade hair masks are:
Honey, Yogurt and Coconut Oil Mask
This mask seals moisture in your hair, keeping it conditioned and reduces breakage. Honey is full of antioxidants and nutrients that feed hair follicles and cleans them by getting rid of impurities. Yogurt contains a fungus that affects positively on hair growth and strengthening of damaged hair as well as it adds shine and manage frizzy hair. Coconut oil can help soften your hair and help bring moisture back to, leaving it healthy-looking and shiny.
What Things You Need:
- A pack of yogurt
- One tablespoon of honey
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
Mix them together and apply it on your hair and put a shower cap. Leave it for one and a half hour and then wash it out.
Banana and Avocado Mask
This mask is a super softening; it leaves your hair very smooth and shiny.
Banana increases the hair hydration and healthiness. It can increase the moistening of your hair and keep it smooth frizz and soothe your itchy scalp. Banana is packed with vitamins and minerals that maintain your hair health and it leaves your hair soft and smooth. It also helps to strengthen weak hair.
Avocado has a high rate of fats in its component which keeps your hair less dry and more moisture which means less chance or opportunity for breakage. It is also rich in other nutrients that boost your hair growth and keep it in a healthy state
What Things You Need:
- One peeled banana
- One-half of avocado
- 2 tablespoons of milk (optional)
Mash the banana and avocado together and add the milk. Mix them up and apply them on your hair for 2 hours.
4-FOURTH: It’s very important to choose the type of shampoo that you are using because if you are using a product that contains bad chemicals, washing your hair could be the act that is really harming your hair, you should pick one that is sulfate-free. This type of shampoo and conditioner I have been using for past 2 years. It reduces the dryness of my hair.
Some Quality Sulfate-free Shampoos:
- Majestic Pure Sulfate Free Argan Oil Shampoo
- Sexy Hair Sulfate-Free Smoothing Shampoo
- Everyone Hair Sulfate-Free Volume Shampoo
5-FIFTH: You should make an oil base mask weekly to regain moisture and shine to your hair. Using a mask of oil will keep your hair less subjected to damage from using the hair dryer. Look for masks containing coconut oil. It’s amazing for hydration and will give your hair an incredible sheen when washed and styled.
Some people don’t prefer oil as it lasts in their hair and makes it looks sticky even after washing it. But, not all the oils masks end up like this.
After a couple of searches, I have found some coconut oil products that have a substance called COCOLIPIDS, it’s a molecule inside coconut oil that penetrates through the hair 10 layers deep to nourish from deep inside. And this component could be easily washed away. I apply it weekly on my hair from the roots to the tips and then leave it for 2 hours before washing out. It never leaves any oily touch in my hair.
6-SIXTH: After washing your hair use a soft towel to dry it and avoid covering it. Don’t wait for a long time to brush your hair. Brushing dry hair makes it frizzier. Also, it can easily break down, instead brush your hair gently when it’s still wet, and start from the bottom then up. Also, to preserve your hair from humidity, after washing it use an anti-frizz hair serum. Put a small pinch in your hand and massage it throughout your hair.
Some Quality Anti-frizz Hair Serums:
- John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength 6 Effects+ Serum
- Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-frizz Serum

The last thing I would like to recommend is DON’T GET BORED from repeating those steps because your hair deserves to be pampered.
